Carol Fullerton Lins-Morstadt 8/13/1934 - 12/25/2020, Age 86
Carol was born in Pawtucket, RI to Elmer and Alice Fullerton as one of five children with siblings William Fullerton, Kenneth Fullerton, Sandra Fullerton, and Ellen Fullerton. She grew up in Rhode Island and attended the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1955. Carol joined the Air Force Nurse Corps, where she was an obstetrical nurse. She met her husband Juan J. Lins-Morstadt at the Officer’s Club at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska in 1961, and they subsequently married February 14, 1962. Carol left the Air Force as a Captain after 6 1/2 years to join her Army husband.
Carol and Juan were joined by Carl Kenneth Lins-Morstadt and Joan Charlotte Lins-Morstadt while stationed in Germany, and the family travelled all over the world (18 moves in 22 years) with the Army.
The family moved to Rhode Island after Juan’s Army retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel, and Carol resumed her nursing career at Kent County Memorial Hospital where she trained numerous nurses. Carol ended her nursing career by retiring from the South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, bookending her career from obstetrics to geriatrics.
Carol enjoyed a full retirement with her family, continuing to serve as a volunteer by driving elderly persons to their appointments, and spending time with family and friends.
She was a generous and gracious person who always had a kind word for everyone.
She will be dearly missed by her family and is survived by her brothers William H. Fullerton and Kenneth T. Fullerton (wife Nancy), her son Carl K. Lins-Morstadt (wife Cecilia), daughter Joan C. Lins-Morstadt, grandson Leonardo J. Cortes, stepson John C. Lins-Morstadt (wife Melinda), and as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 53 years Juan J. Lins-Morstadt, sister Ellen Fullerton, sister Sandra Fullerton Williams, and step grandson Avery J. Lins-Morstadt.
Services will be held in the new year after covid has retreated.
In lieu of flowers please send contributions to PBS or Disabled American Veterans in Carol’s honor.
