Dennis J. Murphy Obituary

Dennis J. Murphy, 70, passed away at home Wednesday, October 30, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Jorge) Murphy. Born in Quonset Point, he was a son of the late Joseph and Laura (Viveiros) Pizzo. Mr. Murphy was a police officer for the City of Pawtucket for over 25 years before retiring in 1998. He was a resident of Smithfield for 28 years and proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed golfing and had a passion for restoring antique pocket watches.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he was the father of the late Dennis J. Murphy, Jr. Dennis was the brother of Theresa Anderson (John) of Punta Gorda, FL, William Pizzo of Orlando, FL, Joseph Pizzo of Warwick, John Pizzo (Kathleen) of Coventry, Melissa Brayall of Woonsocket and the late Robert Pizzo. He was the grandfather of Stephanie Ferri, Kayla Ferri and Aidan Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dennis will also be missed by his beloved dogs Coco Chanel and Gracie Mae.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10am in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visitation in the funeral home, Tuesday November 5, 2019 from 5-8pm.
