Dennis R. Cooney Obituary

Dennis R. Cooney, 73, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jo-Ann (Mazzocchi) Cooney, and a son of the late Maurice and Mary (Gavin) Cooney. Mr. Cooney was employed by the State of RI for the RI Workers Compensation Court before retiring, and was inducted into the Elmwood Little League Hall of Fame where he was involved for many years. He is survived by daughters, Denise A. Williams and her husband George, and Francine Wojtanowski; son, Louis C. Cooney and his wife Michelle; brother, Maurice C. Cooney; six grandchildren, Stacia Holmes, Kyle Cooney, Sean Cooney, Mason Cooney, Christopher Williams, and Victoria Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Bradley Holmes, and Brooke Holmes. He was the companion of Roseanna Pacific, and was the brother of the late Jo-Ann Cybulski.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 9 AM from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clement Church, Long Street, at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Monday, 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, 260 West Exchange Street, Ste. 102B, Providence, RI 02903 will be appreciated.
