Obituary

Gerard Soucy, 94, of Youngs Avenue, West Warwick passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the West View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Warwick. He was the husband of the late Rita B. (Lavoie) Soucy.
He was born in West Warwick, a son of the late Valmore and Aldea (Forcier) Soucy.
Gerard worked at the sound dampening department of Electric Boat in Quonset Point for five years before retiring. He previously was a truck driver for the Steve Soucy Construction Company in Coventry for eight years.
Gerard was a World War II Army veteran. He was a past member of the former Holy Name Society of SS. John and James Parish of West Warwick and a past member of the Club Frontenac of West Warwick. He was loved by everyone he knew and always had a ready smile for anyone that he would meet. He will be missed by many.
He leaves a daughter, Irene Gilbride and her husband, Thomas of West Warwick; two grandchildren, Renee Primich and Kristina Gilbride; and three great grandchildren, Benjamin Primich, Jacob Primich, and Nathan Primich. He was the brother of the late Steve Soucy.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 9 am from the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 48 Highland Street, West Warwick. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in West Warwick. Visiting hours are Sunday 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-R.I. Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, R.I. 02906-5215.
