Hugh F. Hancock Obituary

Hugh F. Hancock, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Linda L. (Healey) Hancock and a son of the late Frederick H.C. and Muriel K. (Knoles) Hancock. He was a graduate of the US Merchant Marines Academy, Kings Point, NY class of 1958. He held 3rd Asst. Engineer Steam and 2nd Asst. Engineer License Diesel. Over the years, he had been employed as a Port Engineer/Surveyor with the likes of such firms as Maryland Shipbuilding & Drydock for 10 years as a Ship Superintendent, American Bureau of Shipping retired after 20 years as Surveyor and Senior Surveyor (located in Norfolk, Va.), Marine Design and Operations Sub- contracted to MSC as Port Engineer, and The Lightship Group. He was the father of Erin Sumner (Rodney), Andrew Hancock (Jennifer) and Jeffrey Hancock (Odessa); brother of Morven Hancock (Connie), and the late Maryjane Hancock; grandfather of Brittany, Jared, Cameron, and Keenan.
