Obituary

James E. Lovegreen, 78, of Exeter, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with a double hit lymphoma. He was the beloved husband of Janet I. (Pearson) Lovegreen for fifty-four years .
Born in Providence, a son of the late Eric F. and Florence L. (Krauss) Lovegreen, he lived in Cranston before moving to Exeter twenty-four years ago.
He graduated from URI, class of 1958 and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity; and was also a 1964 graduate of the New England Institute of Mortuary Science.
Mr. Lovegreen was employed as a funeral director for the former Juhlin – Pearson Funeral Home in Providence. For more than thirty-years he was employed by AMICA in the RI Claims Department, where he became the RI Claims Manager, retiring in 1997. A very active member of Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, he served on the Board of Trustees. He was a former member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warwick where he served in many capacities including President of the Church Council and was treasurer of the Matthew XXV Housing Corporation.
He also served on the Board of the Reynolds Trust in Exeter.
Jim had a great sense of humor and was a good friend to many; and especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Kenneth J. Lovegreen and his wife Barbara of Lake Kiowa, TX; two daughters, Lynda J. Fortin and her husband Kevin of West Greenwich and Karin B. Pittsley and her husband Michael of Dighton, MA; a brother, Robert W. Lovegreen of Narragansett; and seven grandchildren, Scott, Lindsay, Malarie, Julia, Jacob, Katy and Caroline.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11am in Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 54 Cedar Swamp Road, Smithfield. Burial will be private at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
