Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of James S. Toczko, 83, of Hopkinton, formerly of Jamestown, announce his passing on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Susanne (Vargas) Toczko to whom he had been married for 42 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Stanley J. Toczko and Anna (Chambers Toczko) Miga. He is pre-deceased by his infant son James S. Toczko Jr.

Besides his wife he leaves behind his loving son, James and his wife Erica of East Hampton, CT. He was the brother of the late Richard J. Toczko and Joseph S. Toczko.

A native of Providence, James attended LaSalle Academy as a member of the class of ‘55 and went on to enlist in the US Army and subsequently join the RI Army National Guard where he successfully completed RI Officer Candidate School and served until 1966. James also attended Bryant College where he earned a BSBA in Marketing.

James worked for many years in the precision gage, machine tool, and environmental equipment / systems industries at such companies as Brown & Sharpe and Taft-Peirce Manufacturing. He holds four patents and worked in engineering, sales / marketing, and management as well as running his own business.

James had many passions including one for community service. He was a longtime member and officer in Lions Clubs International where he served as the RI Environmental Chairman and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He enjoyed creating things whether it be woodworking, metal fabrication, or model building and enjoyed the peacefulness of fishing when he had the chance.

A graveside committal service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in St. Mark Cemetery, Jamestown. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Rhode Island Lions Childrens Cancer Fund or to the Chariho Centennial Lions Club will be appreciated. Please visit www.FaganQuinnFuneralHome.com for information and online condolences.
