John D. Holt, Jr., 59, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Karen A. (Buxton) Holt. Born in Cambridge, MA, he was a son of Mary A. (Todaro) Holt of Belmont, MA and the late John D. Holt, Sr. Mr. Holt was a matchmaker and owner of the Tri-State Dating Service since 1992. He was also a radio personality and hosted the 2 hour Saturday broadcast “Networking Singles” on WXLM, New London, CT. John lived in Coventry, RI for 15 years before moving to Pascoag, RI in 2005. He played football for 9 years and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the National Softball Assoc. and played for 4 different leagues this year. John enjoyed traveling in his RV with Karen, especially to Florida where he loved to fish. He enjoyed fantasy football and was a member of National Dawg Fantasy Football League and commissioner of the Tri-State Fantasy Football League. He took great pleasure watching all of his nieces and nephews play sports.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his sister Joyce E. Cote and her husband Bob and their children Leanne, Allison and Carolyn Cote all of Chelmsford, MA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Peter, Scott, Kelly, Brandi, Lindsay, Corey, Nathan, Sean, Michael and several great nieces and nephews. He is the nephew of Guy Todaro and Joanna Pecora.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 9-10:30am in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., Greenville, RI, with a service to follow at 10:30am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., 931 Jefferson Blvd., Unit 1005, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated.
