John W. Brennan, Jr., 68, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Joan E. (Foley) Brennan. Born in Niskayuna, New York, he was a son of the late John W. Brennan, Sr. and Dora E. (Green) Brennan. John grew up in Scotia, New York and graduated from Scotia- Glenville High School Class of 1970. He was a 1975 graduate of Brown University with a degree in biochemistry and received his Master’s in computer science from the University of Rhode Island in 1987. He was a computer scientist and had worked at the Naval Underwater Warfare Center in Newport for 27 years, retiring in 2014. John was a classically trained pianist. In the 70s and 80s he played in various rock bands in the New England area as a guitarist and keyboard player. He was an avid baseball fan and had a passion for the Boston Red Sox, but above all he loved his family and friends.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son Andrew J. Brennan and his wife Leslie Herrmann, of Anchorage, Alaska, his daughter Courtney E. Brennan and her fiancé James Brandon Arnold of Richmond, Virginia; his sister, Jacqueline McChesney and her husband Harry Alan McChesney of Scotia, New York.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11 AM in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. Visiting hours Thursday, 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, or The National Ataxia Foundation, 600 Highway 169 South, Ste. 1725, Minneapolis, MN 55426 will be appreciated.
