Thibodeau, Joseph E. P. "Ernie" 85 of Jamestown Apartments, Warwick Ave. passed away peacefully at home Saturday December 6, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Jane A. (Waters) Thibodeau and a son of the late William and Erenestine (Laboissonniere) Thibodeau. Mr. Thibodeau was a cartographer for the US government for 30 years before retiring. He was a cub scout master for RI's first pack, pack 1, in Washington Park, for 25 years, senior league coach for Elmwood Little League, served on the Narragansett Bay Commission, and was a founder and past president of the Washington Park Community Center. Born in Providence, RI, he was a Providence resident for 49 years before moving to Warwick in 2000. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Maureen G. Taylor and her husband Ralph and son Joseph P. Thibodeau and his wife Karen; grandchildren Charles, Gina, Adam, Jason, Joy, Elijah, Bethany, Jennifer and Jared; great grandchildren Caleb, Jessica, Cassidy, Victoria, Gabriella, Antonia, Andrew, Scarlet, Dante, Chester, Orianna and Isabella. He was the brother of Omar Thibodeau, Dorothy Smith, Robert Thibodeau and the late Arthur Thibodeau.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 10 at 8:30 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home 2435 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the National Parkinsons Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
