Linda G. Mecca (Merola), 75, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Stephen J. Mecca for fifty-four years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Campagnone) Merola.
Linda received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Rhode Island College. She was a first-grade teacher for thirty-six years in the Exeter-West Greenwich School System before retiring.
Post retirement, Mrs. Mecca volunteered with seniors and for the Newport School System, serving as their writing coordinator.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking and traveling, especially cruising with her family.
She was a communicant of St. Mark Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three children, Lisa Sallee and her husband Frank “Rusty”, Stephen Mecca and his wife Jennifer and Michael Mecca all of Jamestown; and seven grandchildren, Hannah, Alyssa, Kendra, Camille, Sophia, Sydney and Sebastian. She was the sister of the late Andrew Merola.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 10am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Global Sustainable Aid Project, 5 Aquidneck Court, Jamestown, RI 02835 will be appreciated.
