Polly A. Hopkins Obituary

Polly A. (Thompson) Hopkins, 62, a lifelong Chepachet resident, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 after a three year fight with Ovarian Cancer. She was the beloved wife of Kevin A. Hopkins. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Providence to Barbara (Coffin) Thompson and the late Marcus Thompson, Jr of Chepachet. For the past 20 years, she was a legal secretary at the Kane, Bernstein & Carroll Law Office in Greenville. She was a second generation sheep farmer and proud of it. Mrs. Hopkins was involved in and held many different offices in many groups including the American Border Leicester Association, the New England Sheep & Wool Growers Association, the Rhode Island Sheep Co-op, the Rhody Warm Blanket Committee, and a Trustee for Eastern States Exposition, “The Big E”. She was also one of the founding members of the North East Youth Sheep Show, and a 4H leader for many years. Her favorite quote was “it’s good for the records”. In addition to her husband, she was the loving mother of Sarah A. Jakeman of Canajoharie, NY and Christopher C. Hopkins of Chepachet. She was the sister of Jill Morton of Chepachet and Kerby O. Thompson of Cortland, NY. She was the grandmother of Weston M. Jakeman.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 11AM to 1PM, with a Funeral Service starting at 1PM. Burial will be private.
