Ronald L. MacKinnon, Sr., 92, the former owner and founder of the Whalen Square Café, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the Evergreen Nursng Home in East Providence. He was the husband of the late Filomena (DelVicario) MacKinnon. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Leo and Maude MacKinnon. Ronald was the beloved father of Linda L. Maxfield (James), Kenneth P. MacKinnon (Deborah), Gerald F. MacKinnon (Danielle) and the late Ronald L. MacKinnon, Jr. (Leslie); loving grandfather of Lindsay, Aubrie, James, Ronnie, Paul, Ross, Lexi, Kara and Kyle. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Ann Normandin, Beatrice Cook and Frances Howarth. Ronald was a World War II Navy veteran.
A private funeral service will be held in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, at the convenience of the family.
