Obituary

Ruth Onorato, 92, of Warwick, a retired registered nurse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, with family present. Ruth will be forever remembered for her outgoing personality and loving nature. She was the beloved wife of the late Roland A. Onorato, Sr. They were happily married for 62 years. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Hattie (Manley) Barnes. Ruth was a graduate of Tolman High School and a 1948 graduate of Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, where she was a member of the RI Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. She was an RN in many private nursing settings, as well as holding a job at Rhode Island Hospital, working in Personnel Health Services for 22 years. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Craig M. Onorato and wife, Lisa, and Roland A. Onorato, Jr. and wife, Nancy. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Ryan Onorato, Lindsay Onorato, Nathan Onorato, Ashley Onorato, Allison (Onorato) Bouley, and Matthew Onorato. She had 13 loving great-grandchildren with whom she enjoyed spending time. She was the sister of the late John Barnes and Vera (Barnes) Latham.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10 AM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue. Burial will be at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, May 30 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, RI 02822, will be appreciated.
