Walter E. Gardner Obituary

Walter E. Gardner, 77, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving children. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth J. (Farrara) Gardner for 39 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Ethel C. (Nickerson) Gardner. Walter was the beloved father of Christine M. Sarachick (Bud), Buddy E. Lamphere (Tracie) Mitzi E. Fordham (Joe) and Anjanette J. Gardner-Lynch (John); step father of Sheri Steward, Lori Dale (Kenneth) and the late Derick Cole; brother of Joseph Gardner and the late William Gardner, Delores Marino and Ethel Anderson. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gardner worked at M&M Communications for many years before retiring and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 12 noon in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Our family would like to give a special thanks to Hollie, Heidi and Rosemary for their compassion and care given to our father.
