Obituary

William A. “Bill” D’Abate, a man who was the best of everything passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. William Alaxander D’Abate, Jr. entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving sons and daughters-in-law. Bill as he was known was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and human being. He was kind, caring and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as faith, family and friends.
Bill was born in Providence, RI to the late Senator William Alexander D’Abate, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth Bond D’Abate. He was raised and educated in Rhode Island. Bill was in the automobile industry for many years running one of the most successful Volvo and Nissan dealerships in New England, Alexander Motors.
In 1976, Bill married the late Patricia Norato, a North Providence school teacher. Together they raised two wonderful sons in Greenville, RI. Bill is survived by his son Joshua D’Abate, his wife Lindsay and their two sons, Alexander and Jordan as well as his son, Justin D’Abate, his wife Melissa and their daughter Riley and son Justin, Jr. Bill was so proud of his family and together they formed a beautiful bond. He loved his role as a father and grandfather. Bill is also survived by his six siblings; Mrs. Ida Burke of Lutz, FL, Mrs. Bernice DeMarco of N. Providence, RI, Mr. Jack D’Abate and his wife Phyllis of S. Kingston, RI, Mrs. Denise Orton and her husband Judge John Orton of Narragansett, RI, Mr. Richard D’Abate and his wife Gerry of Johnston, RI and Ms. Davida D’Abate of N. Attleboro, Ma.
Bill also leaves his wonderful companion, Virginia Bowry of N. Providence, RI and two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Connie Marsocci and her husband, Jay of East Greenwich, RI and Mrs. Stephanie Johnson and her husband, Ralph of East Matunuck, RI.
Several adoring nieces and nephews survive. Bill whom they called the best baby sitter in the world.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a daily communicant of St. Philip Church in Greenville, RI. His Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to him.
Bill’s arrangements are in the care of the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., (RT.44), Greenville, RI 02828 where visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. His funeral will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 8:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in the St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contribution in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, One State St., Suite 200, Providence, RI 02908 would be appreciated.
